A Field Day for promotion of maize hybrid PMH-1 was organized at KVK, Fatehgarh Sahib on 14.06.2018. About 40 farmers from different villages of Fatehgarh Sahib attended the programme. Dr J S Chawla, Sr. Maize Breeder cum In charge, Maize Section, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Punjab Agricultural University attended the program. Dr J S Chawla addressed the farmers on importance of maize cultivation and hybrid selection options along with techniques for hybrid seed production in maize. He also discussed various agronomic aspects in the cultivation of maize.

Dr. Navjot Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor, Plant Breeding discussed seed production technology, seed certification and quality maintenance in hybrid maize seed production. She organized interactive session and a solution for problems faced by farmers regarding availing of subsidy on PMH-1 was deciphered. Dr. Suninder Singh, ADO, Bassi Pathana Block enlightened farmers about the filling and submission of subsidy Performa. Dr. S C Sharma, Associate Director, KVK, Fatehgarh Sahib requested the participants to stay in touch with KVK to have the first hand information and technical know how.
