New Indian Manthan: Sankalp Se Siddhi organized by KVK, Fatehgarh Sahib

A mega event ‘ New Indian Manthan:Sankalp Se Siddhi’ was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib at Village Pandrali Kalan, Sirhind, on 2.9.2017 as per directions from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi. In this programme, seed of latest varieties of wheat, sugarcane and pulses by PAU were displayed along with relevant literature by the KVK and self-help groups etc. The chief guest of the programme Sh Kuljit Singh Nagra, worthy Member legislative Assembly, Fatehgarh Sahib led the pledge taking ceremony for development of the country as envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi to make a New India that is free from corruption, terrorism, dirt, poverty, casteism, communalism and doubled the farm income by 2022.

He also emphasized the focus on irrigation with adequate resource building, increase production through various methods, strengthening post-harvest infrastructure, food processing, e-marketing, farmers loans, and subsidiary farming. On this occasion, Dr. Harinder Singh while welcoming all the participants, dignitaries, farmers, farm women and youth, narrated that it is of utmost importance to acquire trainings in the field of agriculture and allied fields before starting any entrepreneur so that farmers can increase their farm income. For imparting trainings, all the facilities and infra-structure is available at the KVK campus, therefore, farmers must make use of these facilities. He urged farmers to make FPOs for immediate returns. He assured that KVK will enhance their outreach with the help of social media. Dr. S.P Saini, Senior Soil Scientist also focused on the importance of soil health card for judicious use of fertilizers. He also suggested the remedy for micro nutrient deficiency in rabi crops. Dr. Dalvir Singh, Sub divisional Soil Conservative Officer discussed importance of Laser Leveller and requested farmer to get their soil tested regularly.

Sh. Balbir Singh, AR Co-operative Society discussed various schemes of Co-operative societies. S. Charanjit Singh, Sub inspector Dairy Development Department enlightened farmer about various subsidiary schemes of Dairy. S. Daman Jhaji, PD(ATMA) urged farmers to follow their instructions. Dr. Jagwinder Singh, vartenery Officer suggested farmers various courses related to Animal Husbandry. S. Sukhwinder Singh, Associate Director (Fishries) gave importance of adoption of fishery as subsidiary occupation. Sh. Surinder Bansal from Lead bank discussed various schemes related to loan. Dr. Navjot Kaur Dhillon, A.P (Plant Breeding) said KVK outreach to maximum number of farmers by conducted demonstration on Oil seed and Pulses. Dr. Ajay Singh, A.P(Animal Sc.) stressed on the role of mineral mixture and uromin lick in animal feed. Dr. Reet Verma, A.P(Plant Protection) advised the farmers to spray the crops on appearance and threshold level of insect and diseases.

Dr. Arvind Preet Kaur, A.P(Horticulture) encourage the farmer to adopt kitchen garden for self-sufficiency and proper nutrition A question answer session was also held in which farmers asked different question pertaining to the attack of insect pest and diseases of paddy, rat control, cultivation of winter vegetable, fruit plants. KVK, Fatehgarh sahib made available fruit plants, forest plants, vegetable kits, mineral mixture, literature and seeds of oilseeds. About 550 farmers, farm women, youth, staff from various departments, bank officials, persons from print and electronic media participated in this programme. Dr. Manisha Bhatia, A.P(Home Sc.) extended a vote of thanks to all those who made this programme a success and appealed the farmers to contact the experts for profitable agriculture .
