KVK Scientists participate in Kisan Kalyan Karyashala

The scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib participated in block level programme Kisan Kalyan Karyashala under the guidance of Dr. S.C. Sharma, Associate Director (Training). The programme was organized under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan organized by Department of Farmers Welfare and ATMA. S. Kuljeet Singh Nagra, MLA Fatehgarh Sahib and S. Gurjinder Singh MLA Bassi Pathana were the chief Guest for occasion. Dr. Reet Verma Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) participated in village Shaheedgarh Block Bassi Pathana. Dr. Arvindpreet Kaur Assistant Professor (Horticulture) participated in Village Bharpurgarh Block Amloh, Dr. Manisha Bhatia Assistant Professor (Home Science) participated in village Kotla Bajwara Block Khera, Dr. Ajay Singh Assistant Professor (Animal Science) participated in Ranwa Block Khamano, Dr. Navjot Kaur Assistant Professor (Plant Breeding) participated in village Nabipur Block Sirhind and delivered lectures in their respective blocks.

The objective of the programme was to generate awareness among the farmers to adopt latest agricultural techniques and subsidiary occupations to reduce agricultural expenses and enhance the income of the farmers. During the programme 25 farmers (5 from each block) were honoured for adopting innovative agricultural techniques. The scientists also appealed to farmers not to burn the agricultural residue and emphasized on the importance of soil testing. The Officers from the allied departments appraised the farmers about the latest government schemes.
